Seeers, clairvoyants etc
|
Has anyone encounter someone with extra senses? I don't mean up on stage doing palm reading I mean people who genuinely seem to able to predict things etc.
I used to be cynical about things like that but I think there is a Lot more to us than we know about

Energy never dies, so when we die we give back in another way.
Consciousness which people believe lives on, doesn't and until you can provide evidence that it does then there's no debate to be had.

When I die, I want to be buried with 'Party time for the worms' on my headstone. Nothing else happens.
We're all part of the food chain, one way or another.

People believe what they want to believe, whether that's a kind omniscient god that listens to your prayers, or that people can communicate with the dead, your loved ones in the afterlife that one day you'll be reunited with. Not much difference in those two beliefs and they more often than not go hand in hand to some extent.
The pathetic ones are the mediums, psychics etc that con vulnerable people out of their money.

No. I wouldn't call someone who believed in God pathetic. The thing with god, Jesus and the bible is that it is there in all its formats and if a person chooses to believe it for whatever reason that is up to them. I won't hold it against them. Even though I believe it's all bollocks.
With Colin Fry and all his band of merry con-men I do find it pathetic that sensible people believe that he is talking to their dead relatives. I also find it pathetic that they shit on a TV show and allow him to mediate a conversation between them and their dead relatives. I also think it's pathetic that he grills them first and basically gets them to tell him what hey want to hear and when he tells them they believe it's their dead relative speaking.
As I said. Pathetic.

Chaplains aren't there to heal people but to provide comfort and solace, faith healers specifically claim they can heal wounds and cure illness, massive difference there.

Unless I'm mistaken you do have chaplains though?
Placebo effect an ting.
I know it's easy for us to sit and judge but I'm sure there's a lot of evidence to show that that sort of thing can "work" thru the placebo effect.

I sought out a spirit tonight. I found it in the kitchen press. I made Sea Breezes with it. If it had been a dark spirit I'd have made a Zombie.

There is a supernatural world. Those who don't go looking for it will never see it, even though they are governed by it.
Those who look for it will find it. But a word of warning, don't mess with seances etc. It's like opening your front door and leaving it open, inviting anyone to come in. Once they are in, they are difficult to remove. The Holy Spirit has authority over them all but wishes no ill on anyone. Sadly, many people seek other spirits rather than Him and are intrigued by silly programmes about ghost hunting and the dark spirit world rather than seeking the only spiritual being who gives authority and power and peace.

A psychic never wins the lottery for the same reason you don't find faith healers in hospitals.

First one I found on Google Brunnooo.
Although if even the Daily Mail get it, and print it, then that's actually working in my favour in your eyes and isn't ironic at all.

Would you be so willing to call someone pathetic for believing in God?
===========
I would.
And there's a direct link between countries in the lower average IQ scores, and less percentages of Atheists.
While atheism is higher in countries with higher IQ averages.
Not surprising.
